Over the past 10 years, Xiaochuanfangyu village has focused on the construction of ecological environment and the protection of wild animals and plants. Based on the development path of "deeply excavate, inherit and innovate traditional local culture", the village has fully empowered rural industrial development and ecological construction, which have achieved outstanding results.

Before 2012, the infrastructure in the village lagged behind. The per capita annual income of the villagers was only 8,400 yuan (about $1,300). However, during the past 10 years, the town has found its own development route, and started to implement the construction of the boutique tourism village project.
In addition to developing the bed-and-breakfast businesses, the village has also focused on the protection and construction of ecological environment, and demonstration of cultural heritage. The green coverage rate of the village has reached 97 percent, which was rated as the first batch of "national forest villages". Furthermore, the local people have also protected the ancient cultural relics and presented the excellent traditional culture through various creative activities. Additionally, they have invited experts to explore the historical stories of the village and therefore enrich the core of cultural tourism.
Now, the village has built a countryside park covering an area of about 300 mu (20 hectares). It has a rural cultural tourism industry chain integrating catering, accommodation, wedding and other services, and 23 boutique bed-and-breakfast businesses. In 2021, the collective income of the village was 760,000 yuan.

In 2014, the village was rated as the national leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration site. In 2015, it was rated as a beautiful leisure village in China. In 2016, Xiaochuan "countryside park" established a national 3A level tourist attraction. In 2017, it was rated as the national ecological cultural village, the national rural tourism key village in 2019, and a national rural management demonstration village in 2020.
