Dule Temple Pagoda
The Dule Temple Pagoda, also known as the White Pagoda and the Yuyangjun Pagoda, is located 380 meters south of Dule Temple and is part of the temple’s overall structure.
The Dule Temple Pagoda was built in the 4th year of the Qingning reign in the Liao Dynasty (1058), and the Guanyin Temple was built when Dule Temple was rebuilt in the 13th year of the Jiajing reign in the Ming Dynasty (1534). The pagoda is 30.6 meters high with an octagonal plane and a building area of 120 square meters. It boasts a large number of brick-carved fancy patterns, and has a gate on each of the east, west, south and north sides of the pagoda. Among them, the south gate was the functional one and held Guanyin statues in Buddhist shrines, but the statues do not exist now. The four sides of the pagoda are all engraved with verses.
Featuring large scale and exquisite design, the Dule Temple Pagoda has a peculiar shape and is a very special case among ancient Chinese pagodas. It is now a cultural relics protection unit in Tianjin.
